How to make a pretty camera strap

July 15, 2010

Last week Refinery 29 showed us how one of Teen Vogue’s editors, the very cool, Sarah Frances Kuhn, put a twist on the boring look of a black, thick camera strap. When I saw this, I was embarrassed that I haven’t discovered this sooner and that I was going out in public with my ugly, suffocating strap. I was just about to order one, when I realized I owned a very cool chain myself and thought I would try it out on my own!

STEP 1
What you will need:
-Pretty chain
-I got this off a Faux Marc Jacobs Stam bag. The bag was killed and ready for the garbage..but the chain was not.

STEP 2
What you will need:
-Scissors
-Shoelaces/String

Cut your Strap off of the camera belts/bungee cords (there is probably an easier way to do this and a way to not ruin your original camera strap but I was impatient)
Cut the shoelace in half and tie the shoelace to the camera belts that are attached to the camera and tie the other end of the shoelace to the chain.

STEP 3
Voila!

And just because I wanted to show off my nails in the process.
