I have been quiet on the blog the last few months and a big reason for that was because I was knee deep in wedding planning! I wont lie- I loved every minute of it and can honestly say I had a blast planning not only my wedding but all the events leading up to it! My bridal shower being no exception.
The minute Aaron and I got engaged, I knew that I wanted to do a tropical themed bridal shower. We DID get engaged in Hawaii after all so it seemed very fitting. We got engaged almost immediately on our trip and still had about 10 days in the islands to celebrate. While we were there, I took everything in and pretty much started planning little details in my head early on.
My mom’s basement was turned into a storage site for almost a year as I would find things from Value Village to add into our decor or get shipments and packages from some of the amazing vendors we worked with! My now husband lent his helping hand and built the pineapple wall, the coconut stand and installed all the wooden lights on top of the headtable.
I also got all these UNREAL silk flowers from Afloral that allowed me to put together the hanging floral garland you see along the venue door. I used a mix of bougainvillea, palm leaves, and greenery strands! I also used some palm leaves and greenery strands along some prize tables. I simply tied the pieces together using green wire and bam- done!
The day turned out exactly how I envisioned it- warm and sunny weather included! My favourite part of the day was surprising our guests ( and my mom and mother in law who knew every detail of the day) with Hawaiian dancers. They came out after I was done thanking everyone and put on a phenomenal show! This moment made me feel like I was actually transported to Maui for a second.
I also loved being surrounded by woman who have done so much for me over the years. Woman who have held me up when I couldn’t stand myself. Woman who have wiped my tears when I thought they wouldn’t stop. Woman who have laughed with me until our stomachs hurt. Every sorrow or joy that life has brought my life, these woman have been there through it.
Thanks to our photographer Elizabeth in Love for capturing the day so perfectly
Also big thanks for ALL of the amazing vendors we worked with:
