This city is not only a pretty blue one but it also is one with a deep rooted history. In 1930, there were many Jewsih refugees fleeing the opression of Hitler and decided to paint the city in blue to remind them of the sky, the heavens and the freedom that can one day exist.

With a name like “the blue city”, it is no surprise that the city of Jodhpur, about 5 hours from New Delhi, makes this list. If you ask a local why all the houses are painted, the usual reply is that the color keeps the interiors cool and fends off mosquitoes.
