The Oberoi Udaipur

If I was ever transformed into a Princess ( still hoping to find a glass stiletto)- I would imagine I would be living at The Oberoi Udavilas in Udaipur, India. It is filled with expansive courtyards, secret turrets and nooks, elegant archways all decked out in a golden stone shade. When you enter- the hotel actually hits all of your 5 senses- inviting smells coming from their 5 star restaurants, bright ceilings that look hand painted, traditional music that hits all of the right notes and your heart is just fluttering with excitement from it all. It’s really no wonder that it is ranked as #4 hotel in the world

THE GROUNDS

Although Udaipur is one of the most romantic and enchanting cities in all of India, the expansive grounds of The Oberoi make you just want to stay put and not explore the rest of the city. Set on over 30 acres of land, it is designed for people who believe there is no such thing as too much luxury. There are over 9 pools, 4 restaurants- Thai, Mediterranean, and Western options alongside Udaimahal’s traditional Indian offerings, a 5 star spa and a service staff that bends over backwards to answer your most redundant questions

THE ROOMS

Each room is made up of local hand-carved stone, brass doors, hand-knotted carpets and the right amount of colour pops. Most of the rooms have private courtyards, a king size bed and are quite spacious. The bathrooms are made of marble with a free standing bath tub that was filled with rose petals when we arrived!  Not sure there is really a need for the spa with that kind of bathtub!

5 things to do while there

# 1- Explore the gardens & the jetty at sunrise.  The sun rises across the lake and the sounds of the morning chants makes it unforgettable

#2- Reserve the private dinner under the lakeside dome.  The most romantic setting all to yourselves with a personal waiter, someone playing music, and the city glowing in the background.

#3- Go for a Shikara Ride (traditional boat) ride with canapés on Lake Pichola as the sun goes down and the stars come out.Visit the Jain Temples of Ranakpur decorated with erotic ancient carvings

#4-Go for a camel ride to a private lunch in Devigarh Fort Palace

#5- Enjoy a tour of the City Palace
